Overview This Short Course in project management was developed as a cooperative venture by BPPM and CIT Solutions, the commercial arm of the Canberra Institute of Technology. It is designed to meet the project management needs of supervisors and middle level management. It includes level IV and level V competencies fully accredited under the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF). Click here to view a list of the AQF competencies to which this course has been mapped. Successful students will be awarded a Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) Statement of Attainment in Project Management listing either the Public Service or the Business Services Level IV competencies. Following successful completion of this course students may also seek articulation to professional recognition and certification by the Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM) - Click here to view details.
The course has been designed to be largely self contained and incorporates all the theoretical and practical aspects of project management in sufficient depth to allow you to plan and deliver projects and to complete your assessment for the course.
Duration Students will have three months access to the learning management system to complete the course. The course consists of 13 topics, knowledge quizzes, two hand in assignments and a final theory review.
Instructional Design The instructional design of this course is based on a metaphoric organisational group called "Foccal". Principal office bearers in the Foccal Group provide you with input as if they were in a real organisation/company and will also help you work your way through the learning. The tutorial scenario for the course is the project management of a major international conference. However, the underlying management functions can form with the PMBOK (USA), and the Australian National Competency Standards for PM.
Pre-requisites There are no formal pre-requisites for the course. However, students are expected to have a good working knowledge of English, have attended high school education and have several years work experience in the area of management, or are currently involved in a project environment.
Course Support Course administration, technical and tutor support is readily available to students via telephone and email.
Cost The cost of the course including tutoring and the Canberra Institute of Technology internationally recognised award is $995 AUD. If students wish to gain professional recognition from the Australian Institute of Project Management then a further fee applies. Click here to see details.
